I'm wondering if there is a solution that doesn't require reinstalling Windows. I added it (sda3), but on rebooting, I get the message "BOOTMGR is missing/Press Ctrl+Alt_Del to restart". I tried to find and fix a problem with windows not wanting to start if I had a flash drive plugged in that was partitioned with ntfs for most of it If I have it the other way around, I get shot into the GRUB Rescue command line. https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1717958

Stage2 looks on partition #1 for /grub/grub.conf. => Grub 0.97 is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdc and looks at sector 34052 on boot drive #1 for the stage2 file. In my case, it would see the NTFS drive but not the partition containing the boot info, so I was getting the same error.
